So I am getting my new KIA Forte ready for another Michigan winter (sigh). In the past I just applied two coats of WGDGPS and two coats of Max Wax. This combo only lasted me a couple of months at best.

This time I used the same sealant, but I applied Collinite 845 on top. I don't see what all the fuss about applying and removing this stuff is about. I am in Michigan, it's mid-40's. All I did was run it under a little hot water and shook it up really good. Applied laser-thin coats, let haze, and used an edgeless polishing cloth to remove. No problems at all.

I can only hope that 845 lives up to its' reputation...!

845 is great stuff, but to get through a winter I prefer 476, or #16 as a second choice.

I've only ever had a problem removing it if I put it on too thick or let it dry more than an hour.

By the looks of your review the 845 didn't even hold up for a month... There is pretty much zero beading in all of the pictures.

I get through 4 month-long Cleveland winters with 845, boosting with Aquawax after each wash (and those washes are far and few between during the winter).

If you are referring to the pictures of my car, then you would be correct. As stated in my review, I think 845 was negatively affected by placing it over NXT 2.0. However, on the silver Accord, it was holding up just fine, as indicated by the relative lack of water left on the surface after washing and rinsing. Also, the NXT 2.0/M16 combo on the 1990 Accord held up just fine as well, although I think this was due more to M16 than to NXT 2.0.

I got the 845 as a free sample... I WAS gonna go with 476. You think it's more durable than the 845???

Absolutely. Don't get me wrong, I love 845, and I prefer it...it just doesn't last as long as 476 for me.

Liquid/Gel Wax (845 and 925): 5-7 months depending on UV exposure.

Paste Wax (476, 885): 9-11 Months depending on UV exposure.

Marque D’Elegance (915): 8-10 months depending on UV exposure

845 in my opinion, much easier to apply and buff off by hand than 476. I plan on topping my 845 with 476 this weekend. This time I think I'm going to use my pcxp and machine apply the 476.

I prefer the 476, but being from here in Michigan and its winter. Salt and the Salt/Sand Mixes that are applied to our roads. Any Collinite wax is better than others for winter protection. My wife was telling me about the up coming winter weather here a couple of days ago. She is starting to like the season, when the snow melts it fills the potholes and freezes, it then creates smooth roads till Spring. Ha! Ha! Think mild, short Winter and early Spring !!!
