Hey all,

I had a quick question about using a DA to polish chrome plastic, and painted bumpers/fenders? My tacoma has a chrome plastic grille outline, and the fenders are a painted plastic (instead of being shiny and reflective they are more of a matte). Same for the bumper. Do I need to take any special precautions when polishing these parts?

thanks!

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Chrome over plastic scratches very easily and the only thing I do is wash then protect, no abrasives at all. Chrome bumpers on the other hand are washed then a metal polish and wax.

Any matte finished plastic I usually just wash it and leave it alone. Matte finishes are something that you never should try to polish or paint correct. If I need to do any paint correction I tape it off in order to protect it and that's about all.

Clean it and leave it.

I had had great success using Nevr Dull on plastic chrome.
