Yeah, I know what you're thinking.

OK, OK, actually I don't know what you're thinking. You could be thinking, what kind of title is that? I don't know. But, I decided to be a little weird today, and you know what kinds of things happen when Geeks get weird.

This silverware originally belonged to my great-grandmother, who has since passed away. She gave it to my mom before my parents got married, and they've been married for 26 years. This silverware is real silver, and my mom said she has never polished it. So you're looking at at least 26 years of tarnish, probably more. Just for fun, I decided to see what I could do. I used Klasse AIO (for its chemical cleaning abilities), Optimum Metal Polish, and a cheap microfiber from Wal-Mart. Took me about 5-10 minutes to do two pieces of silverware. I had to polish each piece 2 - 4 times to get it looking halfway decent. This is definitely a job for a day when I'm bored.

My mom could immediately tell the difference. When I showed her she went "Oh my gosh!"
Thanks for reading my somewhat weird thread. Let me know what you think. :xyxthumbs:

I think you need to get bored one day soon, your Great Grandmother will really appreciate your hard work and think how nice it will make Thanksgiving dinner.

P21S Polishing Soap indicates on the label that it can be used for this very purpose.

Funny, I was just thinking about this product earlier. Might have to throw some in my next order.

EDIT: I should have mentioned, this silverware gets used every day. So it actually turned out pretty good, all things considered.

Oh, I definitely think it came out good. I just had to mention the P21S Polishing Soap because I had just read the label on my new container yesterday.

I guess I assumed (and you know what that does) that most people leave their good silver in a drawer and only bring it out on special occasions. I'm sure she is very happy that it gets used everyday, and a good way to always remember her.
