What speed do you guys use on Flex or PCXP to polish with PO85RD and black or blue pad? Do you break down the polish similar to when using SIP or 106FA or is there a shorter work time?

Also, which is best, black or blue pad. Paint is in very good condition, just looking for that extra pop I keep reading about.

I use a speed setting of 5 and a black pad on the 3401. The black pad still has a little bit if cut to it ( as does the polish), but just enough to bring out a deep shine. Blue pads are really for application of wax/sealants, although I personally do that by hand.

I have not used it a lot, but with my flex, I use speed 5.5 to 6, LC Black pad. With the Flex the combo has some cut. I did see a noticeable difference in polish breakdown time from speed 5 to speed 5.5 when I was experimenting.

It is very sensitive to the amount of polish so if you use too much it takes much longer to break down so I do not really prime the pad, add maybe 4 little blobs a new pad (spread on pad with finger), see if it can spread evenly over the work area (add a dab more if it will not), spread at speed 3 for a couple passes, crank up to 5.5+ until it starts going clear, then relax pressure slightly until basically clear. Clean pad after every other panel or so.

3401, black LC Flat, couple clicks under speed 6, very light pressure. Work until translucent.

Unsure if that's the "correct" way as opinions vary, but it seems to work quite well for me.

I'm usually at around 5.5 for this step with the Tangerine HydroTech pad

I use a black pad with it and speed 3-4(equivalent to 4-5 on PC) if the panel is already good and just needs a lil' extra pop

White pad and 4-5 if the panel needs minor correction here and there!

85RD has a very long work time

I start with some pressure and gradually ease off until none on the last 2-3 passes

Crimson HT or Flat grey pad for finish polishing

I did it with the black pad the one time I used it, at just over speed 5. Came out real nice and even took out some minor swirling. (I didn't use a heavier polish on the sides since it was a pretty new car) I did work it a long time too.
