Lifted Ford F-250 DETAILED! (Liquid Black!)

This truck was supposibly detailed 2-3 months ago... look at the swirls that were left behind be the supposed "detailers". Needless to say they wont be using that other detailer anymore.... and because of their shoddy work Ive now gained a new customer and picked up 3 other jobs while doing this one.

My buddy (one of my best friends from HS) owns the shop that I did the work at... and this truck is one of their best customers vehicles, my buddy and his partner paid for the detail as a THANK YOU to the customer for all of his business. Apparently this customer has his truck detailed religiously so I will be getting a "customer for life" out of this truck, quarterly details. :righton:

Heres the kicker.. my buddy took a couple hours to give me a quick rundown on how to use my new Hitachi (he saw it in one of my bins) and told me to go ahead and use it on the whole truck. :eek: My buddy told me the truck had been 90% repainted and if anything was to happen that he would personally fix it for me, he does paint work at his shop. After he evaluated me using it on a couple panels he let me be. I was confident yet I was worried about buffer trails... which ended up not being an issue. :getdown My totally unexpected use of the Hitachi turned out to be a pleasant experience... and seriously a LOT faster then with the PC which was going to kill me on this truck.

Here is what it looked like after the last detailer put their paws on it.

Can you believe someone made a couple hundred bucks by leaving the truck like that? Unreal.

Process:
-Megs GC wash
-Megs clay and Quick Detailer lube
-Rotary w/white pad and #83 @ 1200rpm
-Rotary w/black pad and #80 @ 1100rpm
-PC w/orange spot buff pad and #80 for small areas
-#16 x 2 by hand
-#38 dressing for trim
-AA foam for tires and wheel wells
-Flitz and powerball for wheels
-Flitz for chrome
-Stoners for glass

Total time.. about 9hrs, but that included doing one half of the truck via PC before my buddy grabbed the Hitachi out of my supplies and showed me how to use it It also includes going over the whole truck twice via rotary AFTER the PC on one side. I also did the inside too, the inside wasnt as drastic a change as the outside so I didnt bother taking pics. This deffinately would have been 12hr + had I had to do a 2 step polish via PC like I was planning on doing. The rotary removes defects so fast its insane. I dont know why I waited this long to use my Hitachi.

So to answer your question.. Id say at least 3 hrs.

WHAT A GREAT JOB!

I'm getting comfortable with a rotary as well. It really decreases correction time and allows me to fix really bad spots. Now, I use the Festool/PC for wax application and getting to areas the rotary just won't fit.

Beautiful job sir! It's fun when the customer says: "Wow" and you have: 1) a great reference and 2) a long term customer.

Man WOW! What a turn-a-round! That black paint is BEAUTIFUL! Outstanding work.:applause: I get a lot of dust using Megs #83 with my PC. IMO OP has the same cutting power with less dust with my PC. Do you get a lot of dust with your Rotary? I can't wait until I get my rotary.

That is incredible work. I was wondering how long it took you to do the f250. I started on my f350 and was working on a pace of 8 to 10 hours.
