Finished the Metallic Gray 540i that I started on with wet sanding yesterday. Compounded with Optimum, then Glazed with XMT Glaze. I'll probably throw a coat of Souveran on it tomorrow (after I steam the carpets), because the color is great.

Tomorrow morning is steam/shampoo carpets and do windows. Then it's ready for a customer.

Wet sanded with 3000? and rotary? That car looks absolutley insane. in the the first pic it looks like its coated with glas. vwd

Yep, but I was too light with the wetsanding in a few scratches. I'm gonna have the shop owner show me tomorrow "when" to stop. I'm still a little intimidated with sanding a clear coat finish, so I probably under-use the sander (better safe than sorry).

This car has 45,000 miles on it and came out grand. The shop owner had a leather refinisher re-dye the face seats on the front driver/passenger a couple of days ago and they look wonderful.

:awesome: that is a nice looking car...wow...to think sand paper...no a car? Not just any car a BMW man I would be extremely worried about not making a mess. Good job.

Hey toto, I was wondering would you mind doing a write up/process as to what exactly it is that you do. This would be great and I'm sure others would be very interested to see how you get great results.

Thanks Nica: Sure...I was thinking about doing that. I'll be starting another car soon and do a Start-To-Finish detailed write up with pics. That way, I might get some ideas from the pro's like Justin or be able to give some ideas to others.

WOW! Toto you the man! BMW are beautiful cars. I am terrified to have sand paper next to paint. Great work there. I too would like for you to write your process as to what exactly it is that you do. Thank you for showing your pics.

sandpaper is just like polish you guys dont worry. 3000 grit is very fine. most car companies do wetsanding and rotary work before each car is shipped off to its dealer. im sanding down my bumper with 1000 grit to prep it for painting and its just removing some of the clear basically, makes it dull....like "washing swirls" make a car dull

It doesn't get more reflective than this! Indoor shot, no tripod. Put a coat of Souveran on this puppy!

Beautiful job on a beautiful car.
I have the opportunity to work on BMW’s a lot. Probably my favorite cars to detail.
