Maiden Voyage - 1967 Starline Deville in Stuart, Florida (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/29117-maiden-voyage-1967-starline-deville-stuart-florida.html)

Took a while to get the boat sea-worthy but the day arrived and Robert from Impressions Detailing and myself took out my 1967 Starline Deville this last Sunday on her Maiden Voyage and I'm happy to say the boat ran great and except for a faulty starter solenoid the day was trouble free and a ton of fun!

All loaded up, legal, fully stocked and ready to go...

Everything is right were it's supposed to be... temperatures good, battery is fully charged and staying that way, oil pressure is great and plenty of gas.

The Tach shows just under 3000 RPM which is around 35 miles per hour...

And looking out the back you can see were speeding along...

Here's the Sandbar. This is where everyone anchors their boat and then enjoys the warm water and comradery with fellow boaters...

After running in salt water it's important to flush the engine and outdrive with fresh water to help prevent corrosoin...

Anytime water splashes onto the boat you have water spots with salt and other minerals deposited... so it's important to wash everything clean and then wipe the boat dry...

Ready to go again...

A big thanks to Robert for helping me get the boat ready and then showing me how to get around in the Stuart Inlet...

How cool!

Growing up in Miami I remember those days. My father had a 26 foot 1970-something formula with an inboard small block chevy in it. I loved every part of it except washing the boat after a long day out in the water.

Yeah that part is kind of a drag, mostly because you're usually tired and even sunburnt... I used a a horsehair brush to be gentle and basically just flowed water over everything and gently washed with the brush and then dried the water off. It's been polished and wax a bunch lately so it cleans up quick and easy...

I'm going to get some anchors and maybe go out again this Saturday, Yancy is helping me to get some lettering for the sides of the boat so everyone can know what it is and how old it is...

The most common question I get is,

What year is that?

or

How old is that?

Exactly... it's so easy to work all the time and look at the beautiful sunny weather outside from inside the office...

I have an iPad with 3G so I can work on the forum from just about anywhere... like the boat anchored on the Sandbar...

I wonder if otterbox makes a watertight case for the iPad? I throw my iPhone in a clear drybag when fishing on my kayak. Great to see you out on the boat. The Starline has come a LONG way since I first saw it at AG.
