Will this backing plate fit the Flex 3401?

NO That is for either a Porter Cable, Griot's Garage or a Meguiars G 110 polisher. Here is what you need for the flex 3401. (link below)

Nope, only the Flex backing plate will work, that I'm aware of. I thought there was another option though...

It appears that AG isn't carrying the flex backing plate for the 3M Edge 2K pads. at least I can't find it on the site.

Hopefully 3M will make a sweet replacement to fill the void.

That's too bad, I wanted to get one. I have a load of Edge 2K pads begging to be used by the flex. Well I know where my next order is coming from then.

OK after a quick search I see what you mean as in totally discontinued. Well I have 3 edge adapters here and a pretty creative mind.

I spoke with Aaron from Edge at DF2010 and he suggested it wasnt likely that 3M would continue the Flex adapter due to limited demand. My hope is that someone like Flex will fill the void soon so that smaller 4 inch pads can be used too.

Agreed. It's rather unfortunate that the Flex can't be used with anything smaller than a 6.5" pad as it currently stands. Not that I mind since I have a PC and a 3403 rotary at my disposal for spot buffing with smaller pads, but it would still be nice to have yet another option.
