I am doing my first engine detail on a Mercedes next week, and curious if there is anything out of the ordinary I should take precautions with, compared to the typical engine detail.
Thanks for any advice

Not sure of the year or model you'll be working on, however here are a few pics to give you an idea at least. This is a 2000 model year E320 with more than 150K miles on the clock.

The thing to be aware of is the black center 3/1 piece is removable & will flex or crack if you apply too much pressure to it. Most of the heavier oil deposits are going to be located toward the front half of the engine. Components to be covered include any exposed wiring. These engines are actually very well insulated so as long as you don't concentrate water on any one specific area for an extended amount of time you should be fine.

Use a soft to mild bristled brush for scrubbing. Dish soap actually works really well if you don't have an engine degrease agent.

Actually I am not very familiar at all with the different models for Mercedes. All I know at this point, is that it is a 2009..suv style Mercedes. Thanks for the advice. I will just be sure to take extra care and very careful, being this is my first Mercedes engine detail.

just cover the electrical connections you can see and i would use a hose rather than a pressure washer. your scrubbing will loosen the dirt. it is probably a "ml" series. you will need a ladder to reach the back center of the engine

Hell I'm so short, I'll need a latter for the front part also !
