Someone in an SUV rubbed my Mother's rear bumper pretty good when she was dropping my nieces off to day care. Some of the damage went all the way through the paint + a couple RIDs.

Heres the before.

I first tried using a foam applicator, but it just seemed to soak up all the compound no matter how much I put on there so I switched to a microfiber pad as Mike recommends int his how-to.

Here's the after.

I used Megiur's Ultimate Compound

Took about 20 mins by hand give or take. Definately can't wait to get a porter cable. No way I could see myself hand polishing an entire car. Don't think my arm would last that long.

The sctraches on upper part of bumper are actually folds in the paint that go straight through to plastic so couldn't get those out. The pressure actually deformed the bumper a little there and cracked paint in process.

And RF Engine b4 and afters.

Any comments or tips are welcomed. Thanks for taking a look and thanks to Mike for the Paint Xfer how-to!

Hi Allen,

Good job!

Just a comment...

The abrasives in the Ultimate Compound are microscopic in size so the product is NOT chunky, that is you can't feel the abrasives. In fact between your fingers it feel more like hand lotion.

When removing Extreme Paint Transfer, it works best to use a chunky physical abrasive product like the XMT #4, which is basically sand in a bottle and if you feel some between your fingers it will feel like sand.

It will remove the paint transfer quickly and easily but leave light scratching behind, then you simply remove the light scratching.

With M105, you can still do it, you just have to use something like microfiber or terry cloth, (the nap acts like a form of abrasive and provide scrubbing-action), and then put a little more passion behind the pad.

Just to note...
Paint Transfer is removed best by hand because you can exert a lot of force to the surface with a few fingers...

If you try this with a DA Polisher, because the Porter Cable style DA Polishers are so gentle to the paint, what you'll usually do is polish the paint transfer to a high gloss, not remove it.

So it works better and faster to start out by hand, remove the paint transfer and then after you've removed it, then re-polish the factory paint to a high gloss by machine.

Subtle differences in technique...

Regardless.. nice save and great before and after pictures...
