I plan on claying a new car and then applying a Sealant, wax combo?

I will be doing all by hand and was just looking for product that is not too hard to take off but does a good job protecting a Minnesota car.

Thanks for the help.

I have yet to do this, and I am extremely inexperienced, but my plan for winter is Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant (from what I hear, it is very user friendly) topped with Collinite 476s/885 (which is less user friendly if you apply it too thickly). From what I've read, this would be a bulletproff combo. You may be able to substitute/add collinite 845 Insulator Wax to the top of this, or instead of 476s

Both DP Poli-Coat Paint Sealant (http://www.autogeek.net/dp-poli-coat-32oz.html) and DP Max Wax- Made with pure carnauba wax and advanced polymers (http://www.autogeek.net/carnauba-car-wax.html) are excellent, user friendly products. Even if the car is new, it is still a good idea to polish the paint with a product like Poorboys World Polish with Sealant (http://www.autogeek.net/poorboys-polish-sealant.html) or XMT 360 (http://www.autogeek.net/xmt-360.html) which would leave a great base for sealant/wax IMO.

After claying and wiping the paint clean, the most important thing about hand applying a wax or paint sealant is to apply a thin but uniform coating. A good practice is to work the wax or paint sealant over each square inch with 2-3 passes.

Here's a couple of videos that talk about the straightline technique but there's other tips included also...

Mike,

what products make a good combo?

I was going with the Pinnacle Clay set and then was thinking like a poorboy sealant and then p21s for wax.

Is that feasible?

Both are great products and should work fine together...

Surface prep is the most important thing, you mentioned you're going to clay the car... I find that anytime the paint on a car needs to be clayed it can also use a good cleaning with at a minimum a good paint cleaner before the wax or a cleaner/wax.

Kind of just depends on how many steps you want to do and how strong your arm is...

for a harsh winter you can also consider Rejex topped with Collonite. For better looks top with Pinnacle Paste.

So I am trying to narrow my products for this little project. Here is the run down

Clay-Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay Set
Cleaner-P21s, Poorboy's Polish
Sealant-?Maybe Rejex?
Wax-Does not matter here, Just something to enhance.

One more Question?

would it need to do a sealant or would it be highly recommended with being in Minnesota?

thank

I just want to place my order and make the best of an eduacated quess.
