Hey Guys,

Im new to this detailing thing, and have a griots garage DA and was polishing a truck with there orange pad and Machine polish 3 compound. As I was doing the roof of the truck, I noticed it was producing a lot of powder stuff that was falling all over the car. (I could see if fall down on the windshield). I haven't had this happen before. What am I doing wrong? Dirty pad, to much compound? Please help

It is spent polish residue and tiny particles of clear coat that you removed by polishing. If you have an air compressor, lightly spritz the pad with lube, then spray the pad (point blank range) with air while running the machine. This method is my new favorite... I'll make a video of the technique soon. If no air compressor, do this after every section:

This is just an example, I wasn't actually polishing anything. The pad is already clean.

This is single stage paint, you can actually see the color making it easy to tell if it needs cleaning.

Thanks so much! I was thinking it might just be dirty since I've heard it can take up to 3 pads to polish a car. This will certainly help!
