I have a fender that I need to replace on my Mustang since I was involved in a fender bender.

The fender is in great shape and is the correct color, so it's an easy replacement. However, it has a vinyl stripe on the bottom and I need to remove this. Does this simply peel off or is there a special secret to doing this?

Depending on the vinyl:

1. Carefully just peel it off slowly.
2. Use a heat gun or hot lamp near the vinyl to soften it up for removal.
3. Use a small steam cleaner (can't remember the name, but my wife got one at Costco to clean bathroom tile grout...it doesn't work there). Apply steam to the vinyl, get an edge lifted, and keep applying steam to the area just ahead of the removed edge.

WHITETHUNDER46-
There is a tool you can use to take it off that would be much faster - the guy who did my pinstripes took some off of a used Saturn wagon my husband bought. (Big vinyl - fugly!) Came out great. But we can't recall what he said it was - it was like a $10 item!! If I can get a hold of him after the holidays, I can ask for you if you like. His other option was that listed above, but he had so much to remove it did not pay. Let me know!!

Well already done. Took a hair dryer, and heated up the corners, then peeled off slowly. Literally took less than 3 min.
