I am attempting for the first time to detail my engine bay on a 2006 gto. I keep reading about APC but I don't understand what this is, where do you buy it, and it seems to be mixed in with certain products.

Any advice would be helpful and thanks in advance.

APC stands for All Purpose Cleaner. Generally that is a product that can be diluted at different ratios for different tasks. That being said, here's one that's frequently used for engine bays undiluted: P21S Total Auto Wash is German nobility in a spray bottle! (http://www.autogeek.net/p2totautwas.html)

Many of the product lines at Autogeek include an APC.

Don't forget to cover your alternator and any other sensitive eletrical componets. Using a plastic bag to cover your alternator works well and so does aluminum foil for anything else. The foil allows you to wrap and mold around those tricky parts. Also don't forget to run your engine for a few minutes once your done hosing it down. An even better way is to quickly dry after rinsing, add your dressing and then running your engine with the hood closed. This will allow for drying of any water you missed and also for your dressing to soak in your plastics while providing nice even coverage.
Good luck! :xyxthumbs:

APC = All Purpose Cleaner.

Here is my favorite ARO = Amazing Roll Off Amazing Roll-Off Spray it on and watch the dirt roll off! (http://www.autogeek.net/amazingrolloff.html)

It leaves behind a nice mild gloss as well as cleans very well A favorite of a lot of forum members. Use the search to find engine detail threads there are lots of good ones.

here is just one.
