i have had a customer that has wanted me to polish his 06 vette for a while now I finally got it last night. it is a dark blue with a good dose of swirls and we are shooting for 90-95% correction on her Take a look at the process and let me know as this will be my first vette as I a ma stang guy

Wash with Dawn
Clay
Clean engine with Total Cycle Wash
Treat with CD-2
Polish the exterior with Griots with 5.5 surbuff pad and Megs UC
Polish with GG 5.5 green uber pad and Megs 205
Polish Wheels/exhaust with Mothers Billet
Treat with Opt-seal (2 coats)
Top with Opt. Spray Wax
Treat Tires and Int. with Megs Supreme Shine

Will a surbuff plus UC be enough I hear that vette clear is rock hard.

As far as whether UC with Surbuf pads will be aggressive enough for you, there's no way we can say without also knowing what type of polisher you're using, and how your technique is.

The best thing you can do is to mask off a test spot and give it a shot. Either it will turn out the way you are expecting/hoping for or it won't; and if it doesn't you'll know you need to step up the aggressiveness scale, or adjust your technique a bit.

I will be using the Griots Garage ROB (the new version) but the is about as aggressive as I can get.

... it is a dark blue ...

LeMans Blue. Love the color. I have a good friend with the same year and color. It'll look great when you're done.

Ahh yes, LeMans Blue. My uncle has a C5 that color (it's an '04 Commemorative Edition coupe). Looks awesome when all polished out.

As an aside, if you're looking for a beauty wax to use, I found that Surf City Garage's Barrier Reef Wax reacts well to that color. An unlikely/uncommon choice, but I like it! Got it as a freebie in one of my AG orders last year. :props:

For me, I like UC better than 105, longer working time and a lot less dusting very close in aggressiveness and easy to get

Oddly enough, I polished my 2005 Ram with UC and orange 5.5 with Griots and had a difficult time removing swirls. In fact..it didn't, even putting about everything I had as far as pressure, nothing worked. Went to 105 and they were gone. I had the exact same results on my friends Chevy 3500. I've seen many times that UC is comparable to 105..but not in my experience. I do wish Megs would reformulate 105 to have a better working time but not affect the performance at all.

I love UC!! If I was in your situation, I would have went to a more agressive pad(cyan hydro-tech or surbuf) and stuck with UC. I only use 105 if I HAVE to. It's a real pain to work with, IMO.
