HI,

So I am in the process of cleaning my leather seats with Liquid Leather cleaning products.

The product works wonders but I have run into a snag. I was able to get the drivers seat looking almost brand new but the passenger seat is giving me real trouble.

I have cleaned it to the point where no more dirt is coming off, only product, but the seat still looks dirty and feels like is has a "Shell" over the leather. The leather doesn't feel hard but it is not as soft as the drivers.

Cleaning the drivers seats to almost brand new took roughly 1/4 of a 250ml bottle. The drivers seat was much dirtier than the passengers but the passengers seat has used almost the remaining bottle just trying to clean the bottom portion of the seat.

Drivers

Passengers

What is not so noticeable in the pictures is that the driver seats looks like brand new Dove Grey, while the passenger seat is a darker shade.

Any tips?

Thanks

How old is the car these seats are in?

Looks like the driver's seat may have been recovered and if the car is older that's probably what's happened and that's why it reacts well to cleaning and conditioning and the original seat doesn not react well.

The original seat with the cracks is going to need to be recovered or a lot more extensive work than just applying a cleaner and conditioner... there are visible cracks in the leather.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that's what it looks like by the pictures...

Maybe locate the previous owner ans check with them and find out where the other seat was recovered?

Those seats are out of a 1998 BMW M3. Both are definitley leather ( thought for a bit one was made of vinyl) The cracks in the seats are more of just the top layer of leather gone than actaul cracks through the leather.

I re-dyed them once ( had to remove do to other issues) and you could no longer see those cracks.

But the one seat is definitely not the same leather as the other seat but both are stock and not recoved ( as far as I can tell).

The drivers seat is much more plush and the leather has grain ( not really sure if that is the word to use, texture like a football almost) were as the passanger seat is very smooth and no where near as plush.

I am starting to think the passanger seat has suffered significant UV damage.

Thanks for the reply.
