This is my friend's 2002 Z06, and to my knowledge, it's never had a proper detail. I've attempted correcting it before with the Flex using purple Kompressor pads....105, Power Gloss, 1Z Intensiv Paste, nothing would touch the defects. Since we now have Surbuf pads, I told him to bring it on by and we'll see what we could do.

The car hadn't been washed since June according to him, and it really showed.

Hey Matt,

An first rate detailed report including photos that nicely show the before and after affects of a great detailing job.

Superb work my friend and a great step-by-step report! :props:

Tell me that's not your garage, I'm drooling on this end; room, lighting, tools, etc, etc, etc.

Bitchin' work, Matt! Looks GREAT! :dblthumb2:

Any particular reason you used tang instead of white with 205?

Thanks Mark! Surbuf pads don't finish too nice in my experience. They cut harder and faster than any pads I've used, and with that, they just do not finish that well. For that reason, I chose to go with Tangerine Hydro-Techs for the final polishing step. On such hard paint, these pads left a perfect finish and had no problem removing any minor hazing left behind from the Surbufs.

Makes plenty of sense. :props: I agree, surbuf pads don't finish too well, but cut GREAT!

Great work Matt! I've been very impressed with the Surbuf's myself and they are definitely a game changer with the DA's! :dblthumb2:

Nice work Matt...

Not only did Matt restore a finish worthy of the Corvette name, he also taught his good friend how to,

Properly wash wheels and tires
Properly wash and dry a Corvette
How to Evaluate the condition of the paint
How to use detailing clay
How to do a Test Spot
How to use the Flex 3401
How to use a DA Polisher
How to create a deep, wet shine...

Fits this philosophy very nicely...

"Each one teach one"

And I really liked this picture... :D
