My factory z06 wheels are chrome. However, they look to be clear coated. So, one would think to pick up chrome polish, but wouldn't you want to use a polish like M205 instead considering they're clear coated?

If they are indeed clear coated you would treat them like paint. Wonder why they would cc chrome?

In just the last couple of years Chevy has offered the Vette with two metal options. Chrome and High Polished. There was a big difference in pricing (about 600.00) and only the high polished are clearcoated. They have a slightly milky appearance and usually quickly identified. If having a hard time, look at build sheet or window sticker.

Chrome -- Chrome Polish
High Polish --- Paint Polishes Only

Mark, I have done numerous Z06's with your wheels and they are not clear coated. Look at the last black Z06 I did in show and shine and you might catch something.:dblthumb2:

Clearcoat would kinda ddefeat one of the main reasons I have chromme wheels on both of mine. They are so easy to maintain. I use metal polish, DG601,DG105 and maintain with DG AW boosted with Polychargerr H2O. Hose em off and wash with car wash. No need for wheel cleaner anymore!

M205 is actually a good chrome cleaner.

Why would they clearcoat a clearcoat? Something is not right here. Do as KillerWheels says and check your specs or window sticker/addendum. Unless they are aftermarket wheels you should be able to figure this one out. Even then, chrome is distinctively different from polished aluminum. If you can't tell then get a pro to look at them. If you still aren't sure what they are, you could get away with a trial and error by using mild paint products on them and see if the result is satisfying enough for you.

My mistake. I thought they were clear coated.
