Hey guys just recently purchased a 2010 Acura TL in Polished Metal Mettalic color. I plan on giving it a good wash and clay. What do you guys reccomend I use for a cleaner/wax that I can do by hand. I am not ready to use a porter cable yet on it.

thanks!!

With the color, I would get Blackfire Wet Diamond. It is a great sealant that really makes metallic colors pop. I used it on my Wife's Flint Grey MB and it looks awesome. I cannot wait to use it on my car.

If you want to use a carnuba wax, get yourself some Autoglym HD - it makes my space grey BMW sparkle.

Sure, it'll be nice and clean so the sealant will bond nicely.

Does it really need a cleaner/wax?

A cleaner/wax is usually used to restore a neglected finish although they are great products for maintaining daily drivers to prevent the appearance of aging when exposed continually to the elements.

If the car is brand new and the paint is in excellent condition, then you could use a "Finishing Wax" or "Finishing Sealant".

Is the car going to be garage kept?

We don't sell Blackfire and our forum rules make it clear that this forum is dedicated to support the products that we sell in our store, we don't enforce that rule strictly but I thought I would point this out in case anyone isn't aware of the rules and good forum netiquette.

Here is a list of most of the waxes the Autogeek.net store carries and supports with information and how-to advice by this forum...

Any of the below products are high quality and easy to use by hand, just be sure to follow the manufactures directions for application, drying time if any and removal recommendations.

When you're ready to step up to machine polishing it's not that hard...

can i go straight to a sealant after I clay?

As Silverstone said, "Yes", claying removes anything off the surface enabling your choice of wax or paint sealant to bond better and thus last longer and thus protect longer.

As long as you're happy with the appearance of the paint after claying then wax away...

I know people are on the fence as to the use of a paint decontamination kit, such as the Finish Kare kit offered here at Auto Geek. However, I have found it to be very safe and very effective when used as directed. I have now used the Finish Kare kit on three new vehicles and had outstanding results, especially my own white 2010 Kia Forte. You might want to check the paint surface for fallout and rail dust. It usually shows up as little orange "Rust"-looking specks, especially on horizontal panels... hood, deck lid, roof. After the decon process, I still had a few spots to clay, I amped up the shine with some 85RD on a red Hydro pad attached to a PCXP. Sealed with WGDGPS, topped with Liquid Souveran.

I have a Meguairs G110 that I rarely have ever used. I bought it a while back with the Meguairs soft buff pads but they just dont seem comfortable and too big. Thanks for all the info guys I appreciate it! Thanks Mike for all the help. When I meant cleaner/wax I meant like a pre-paint cleaner like P21S then follow it up with wax. Is that cleaner necessary? What are cleaners like that usually used for? Do they just hide imperfections?
