I had some leftover Hondabrite Total Cycle Cleaner/Degreaser (by S100), so I thought I would see how well it cleaned an engine bay. I bought it about a year ago at a local honda motorcycle shop for $9.99 a quart. If it is safe to use all over a motorcycle, then it should be safe to use in an engine bay.

Here is what I started with, a 97 VW Jetta 2.0L engine. I don't know if it has ever been cleaned before.

After spraying down with Hondabrite and allowiing it to dwell for a few minutes, I gently scrubbed with various brushes and rinsed off. There were only a couple stuborn areas that required some extra cleaning and additional scrubbing.

I did a final rinse and dried the engine with my small air compressor. Once dry, I sprayed on the CD2 Engine Detailer. I allowed the CD2 to soak in and dry and then wiped down any heavy spots.

Here is the finished engine bay (I actually took these pictures a few days after cleaning the engine)...

This next picture appears darker because I tried to take it without using the flash.
