Another " My first Detail" 2010 VW GTI

The title pretty much sums it up. It all started when I bought my new car, a 2010 Carbon Steel Grey Metallic VW GTI. Wanting to maintain its finish I hit the internet running. Started doing some homework on detailing and after a months time, here are my results. I didnt go over the top with 3 different polishes, LSP, wax and 12 hours of work, not that the car needed it, but I'm happy with the results. And like many folks here, I can say it was a learning process the whole way through. Total time for the detail was just under 5 hours. Now keep in mind that includes my learning curve, breaks, and the "much better looking" other half checking up on me every few hours. Below you'll find all the products used and pictures to go along with it. Thanks for looking and all the inspiration this forum has provided me.

You couldn't pay me enough money to use a water blade, but the car looks great. :) I love GTI's. I'll be on my 5th whenever I get a chance to buy a MKVI.

I take it the general consensus is they can mar and scratch the paint if anything is missed during the washing process? If so, maybe i should look into a better "fire hose" nozzle and quick release mechanism. I've read about sheeting the water off then drying. I'll give that a go next time around. You got it. If grit gets trapped on the lip of the blade you'll get some nice scratches. Cleaning the lip frequently can help buy I am not that trusting.

Flooding method works great. Get the nozzle. Not sure why you want a quick disconnect on it, it's adjustable from a nice stream to a large fan. :)

The paint looks really good, and flakes nicely. The wheels look perfect on it as well. Nice looking ride!

That was my other option, a BMW. I was looking at a 1 series but unfortunately it was just a tad out of my price range. And TBH I wasn't a huge fan of the interiors on the BMW's. Sure they are very nice but nothing stood out like the GTI's. I also contemplated a STI but once again just out of my reach for the price.

Thanks JLB. I did use the KAIO on the windows however I completely forgot about the tail lights / head lights. Suppose I could have done them as well. I noticed you live up in Rochester Hills or that's where your business is. We are practically neighbors, I too live in the Detroit Metro area.

Thanks for the comments Gordon. I completley agree with you. I wouldnt have been able to produce good results without the help of this forum and AG videos. Everything from product selection to techniques and methods of application were taught to me by fellow forum members. Its great to know there is a community that is willing to help out someone who is eager to learn.
