Removing gum residue from a painted bumper

Anyone have any sure fire techniques for removing chewing gum residue from a painted plastic bumper?

Somewhere along the line I picked up some chewing gum with the left rear wheel of my Porsche, leaving a trail of gum on the bumper. That trail picked up brake dust from the rear brakes and has now hardened. I have tried clay and I have tried the pressure wash from a DIY car wash, neither of which did anything.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

A paint safe adhesive remover should do the trick, use a blade or floss to lift it.

If its painted with clear coat you can try kerosene, it should do the job.

W-D 40 works great on gum,tar,sticker and graphics adhesives on paint...
