Figured this morning would be a quick wash and spray wax job. Unfortunately my obsessive compulsiveness kicked in.

I thought that the paint didn't look as shiny as it has been in the past, so I decided to clay bar the car. I used Meguiar's Clay Bar with the Meguiar's Quik Detailer. Note from the photo below that there seems to be an oily residue of sorts. The bottom third and right third of the photo borders the oily residue (darker) part of the photo. About two hours, a lot of elbow grease and patience to take that stuff off from the entire car. About an hour just on the hood.

I am not sure which product caused this oily layer but here is the previous detailing layer history. Last detailed around March 2010.
Wash,
Clay bar
Klasse All in One
Klasse High Gloss Sealant
Meguiars No. 7 High Gloss
Two layers of Pinnacle Wax
I clay bar the about three times a year. March, July and November.
I tend to wash the car every Monday afternoon or every other Monday afternoon, or when the car gets dirty. I use Meguiars gold class Soap and for the last two years I have used Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer for its quick wipe and shine.
Two months ago I started trying the Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax when I ran out of Meguiars Ultimate Detailer.
I guess I need input on whether I should leave out the Meguairs No. 7 or if I should stop using the Ultimate Quik Wax. I suspect either of these are the cause for the dull oily residue that only comes off by using the clay bar.
Next step, I am about to use the Klasse All in One layer. I'll keep you posted.
