Review: Liquid Natty’s Blue

Introduction:
I was picked to review this product as part of a beta test for Poorboy’s world. I have and love the Natty’s Blue paste wax so I’m thrilled to be able to get my hands on this as well. Thanks to Meghan, Matt, and AG for selecting me. Also, thanks to Poorboy’s World for giving us the chance to try this out during the beta phase.
Going into this review I had never applied an LSP by machine. I had always preferred to do it by hand. With the sealants that I often use the hand method is best and it has become a bit of habit so after delving into the world of waxes I have continued to do it by hand. Using Natty’s Blue Paste is quite a treat and I wasn’t sure what a liquid version would offer beyond what the paste already offers. I came to the conclusion that an important aspect of the liquid version would be that it is much easier to apply with the aid of machine polishing. Based on this idea that was the direction I decided to go. For durability I will be testing it against its big brother (Natty’s Blue Paste wax).

2.- Packaging: Clear plastic bottle with beta label
3.- Directions: Clear and concise
4.- Consistency: Melted Ice cream (Sorry, it’s almost dinner time)
5.- Color: Natty’s blue (Yes, it deserves it’s own color)
6.- Scent: Bubblegum (even nicer and stronger than the paste wax scent)
7.- Size: 16 oz.

Additional products used for prep, during application, or removal:
1.- Sonax Nano Tech Paint Cleaner
2.- LC Flat Blue foam pad (6 1/2")
3.- Flex 3401
4.- Microfiber towels
5.- Rocking stool
6.- 3M green tape

Method of Preparation:
I started by cleaning the entire car with Sonax Paint cleaner. This particular paint cleaner leaves behind a nano carnauba wax so I taped off and sprayed down the passenger side half of the rear lid with IPA for comparison and in order to make sure what was left behind by our paint cleaner doesn’t affect our testing of liquid blue’s durability.
In order to test it side by side with Natty’s Blue paste wax I laid a strip of tape down the center of the hood to separate the two.

Method of Application, and noted Observations:
I applied a fair bit of Liquid Natty’s Blue to a LC Flat Blue foam pad (6 1/2" Dia.) on my Flex 3401. On speed 1-3 I quickly spread the wax across the drivers side half of the hood in a back and forth overlapping manner. I used the same application method on the roof, the driver’s side of the car, and the rear lid. I really wanted to test the workability in the sun so I was happy to see the rear of the car was sticking out from under the canopy exposing the entire trunk. It had been so all day and the panel was hot enough to cook an egg and some bacon. Had to be a good deal beyond 130 degrees. I meant to put the thermometer to it but forgot somehow. Anyway I put down the polisher and opened up my Paste wax. Using a yellow foam hand applicator I applied the paste wax to the passenger side hood and the passenger side of the car. I also hit the rear vertical section of the trunk. The entire car had a layer of wax over it and to this point I had not buffed any of it off. I got out my Microfiber buffing towels and buffed off the wax. It came off very easy. On the area that had been under the sun the whole time it came off even easier. Possibly because that hadn’t been on as long but I tend to think otherwise. I took a video of part of that removal for your viewing pleasure. At this point I was ready to scream from the rooftops “Bring it to market” I really love this stuff! I didn’t notice until I was all done but there was a little bit of white wax dust in the door jamb. It wasn’t much (barely noticeable) and took about 10 seconds to wipe off. Pros:
1.- Extremely easy to apply
2.- Extremely easy to remove
3.- Works great in the sun especially for removal
4.- You can wax the whole car without the need of wiping each panel before moving on.
5.- Smell (This usually doesn’t matter too much as it’s just the icing on the cake but with this product it is worth mentioning.)

Cons:
1.- A bit of dust

???:
1.- I will definitely update on durability every so often.
As I mentioned on the bottle it says “….year round protection….” Is PB claiming an application will last a year? I think more likely they mean if applied as needed it will protect from the elements through any season. Not sure what they were trying to say.
2.- Price is not yet available but if the price is in line with the paste wax then I would call this a Pro as well.

Final Observations and Summary:
If you like a great liquid wax that’s very versatile and easy to apply and remove then cross your fingers and hope the formula doesn’t change much. If durability and price were fair (as expected) then I would think this would be a great option for mobile detailing professionals due to its friendship with the sunshine. Using the machine to apply Liquid Natty’s Blue was so easy and fast I l will definitely apply it the same way with this product and probably most other liquid waxes moving forward. I saw no difference (darkening, etc.) in the look between the liquid and the paste wax. From what I understand via Poorboy’s this liquid version is supposed to outlast its pasty brother in durability. Also the wax content is equal to the content of the paste.

Excellent I videoed it for exactly that reason. I couldn't believe how easy it came off. Especially the video in the sun.

I actually got it for pulling weeds a few years ago but now it has been promoted. Got it at Lowes for proabably around 20$ in the garden section.
