Strong enough to show defects in paint?

Yes. I tested on black paint, it probably wouldn't be effective on your silver metallic Corvette...

Not as strong as the Xenon bulbs in the Brinkmann but it does show them plus hands-free feature. If you've ever had to change a tire in the dark on the side of the road, or any kind of road side emergency like jumping a car, you would really appreciate having these in your emergency kit.

I have a lessor quality version that was invaluable when I was preparing my engine compartment for the change from a small block to a big block engine.

It's the handiest hands-free light you could ever wish for when you need to have your hands free but see what you're doing in the dark.

I keep on in my center console along with a Brinkmann Swirl Finder Light.

Do you know if the LED used in that is the same as the one they put in their dual-LED hand-held torch? I've got one of them in addition to the Dual Xenon version you guys sell (both are in the same type casing/housing) and it does work great.

The only problem with the headlight is you look like an absolute dork while wearing it :surrender:

The LED seems to do a better job of showing defects, but there are some times where the LEDs are almost too bright, causing glare that makes it hard to see the defects because they get washed out.

For me, I can see good value in having both types available in my arsenal. In part because the battery charge lasts much longer with the LEDs than the Xenons, which can be a big plus during a longer detail. I use the LED one to shine under seats and into crevices when I'm working on an interior in addition to using it on paint.
