Hey guys,

Yesterday, I finally detailed my car for the first time. I started at 9:00 am and finally stopped at 8:30 pm b/c I had to run. I have a black 06 Infiniti FX35 and this is what I did so far.

1. Wash with Meguiars soap and mitt
2. Clayed the car with Meguiars
3. Used my PCXP w/ m105 orange pad flat, m205 with white, Menzerna Micro polish w/ blue, and Menzerna's powerlock w/ blue.

My question is, I had to rush and I got some Menz Micro Polish on my chrome grill and it looks like it stained it. Any advice?

Also, can I seal my car with a double coat?

Thanks,

I would like to see pic as well, as I have never seen first hand or heard of this happening. Also on the power lock, yes you can double seal. Just wait at least 8 hours for the old coat to cure.

Chrome plating is pretty much impervious to most chemical attack, is it possible this is chrome plastic?

Put a magnet on it and see if they're any attraction.

Did anyone even make a grill that wasn't plastic in 2006?

Did anyone even make a grill that wasn't plastic in 2006?Good question but i really don't think a chrome grill has been made on an domestic car in ages since the cost of chroming parts and the inpact on the environment.

I checked it out during lunch and it looks like it went away. After I went over the entire car with the m105, m205, and menz micro, I decided to wash the entire car before sealing it. When I was drying the car, there were purple drops all over the chrome grill that wasnt coming out. Now it looks like it disappeared and YES, I think it's plastic b/c it's a little soft. I will update more in a bit.....
