Hey everyone new member. Detailing is a hobby of mine. Love it, I detail all my friends cars and they come out shining and silky smooth. But I want a better shine.

Right now my products are
Meguairs gold class soap
Meguairs clay kit
Then follow with meguairs professional polish
And lay a coat of meguiars yellow wax professional stuff over the polish.

Now it comes out great looking but I want some better products.
I can never get out swirls. What do I need? I'm basically just using walmart microfibers. Which I know is causing scratches. What's a good all around car care kit that is good? I was looking at wolfgang products. And the porter cable machine. Just after reading which pads I should get gave me a headache.

New a good quality car wash soap
Clay kit
Polish
Wax
Good microfibers
Good tire and wheel combo
Which buffing machine for swirls.
Which product for swirls?
Good detailer spray?

Sorry for the long post, just after finding this site I'm excited haha.

Any of the polishers on AG are capable of removing your swirls if used correctly. The PCXP is a dependable polisher. Tad gets absolutley stunning results with it. The Flex 3401 is an amazing machine if you are willing to shell out a couple extra bucks. The Griots comes with a lifetime warranty... I haven't heard a ton about the Meguiars but it will work fine as well. I've tried the Griots and I use the Flex. I love my Flex. Here is a review of it from when I first got it. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/23276-review-flex-xc-3401-dual-action-orbital-polisher.html

And here is a thread from Mike P. on choosing a polisher:

I like a lot of the Wolfgang products.

The megs Gold class shampoo is actually a very good shampoo. I'd stick with that and worry about other things for now.

As far as which polish to use you will have to do some research as to what you want to go with. Reseach using the search button Megs 105 and 205 as well as Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover and a few of the Menzerna polishes.

The following link is mostly about Meguiars polsihes but will more importantly introduce you to some important general info about polishes and the types of abrasives...

Optimum has some great products. Optimum No Rinse (ONR) is quite versatile. I use it for a clay lube among other things. Heres a review http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/25616-review-optimum-no-rinse.html

For an extremely versatile rubber and vinyl protectant check out 303 AP.. 303 Aerospace Protectant, 303 aerospace, 303 protectant, aerospace protectant, 303 products, 303 (http://www.autogeek.net/303aerprot.html) Love this stuff

For picking your clay the main question is what level of aggression do you need.
The DP clay works well for a non aggresive clay.

For a sealant I love Ultima. Heard good things about DP Policoat and Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint sealant as well as others.

For a wax depends on what you want to spend. Some notable names and usual suspects are:

Optimum Car Wax
Poorboys - Nattys Blue
DP - Max Wax
Dodo Juice
Pinnacle
Wolfgang Fusion

Heres a nice looking Tire dressing... http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/24938-review-optimum-opti-bond-tire-gel.html

For a detail spray try Optimum Instant Detailer. Buy it 32 oz and dilute. With your first order click on the free sample and get a sample of the FK-425 detailer. I like this more then the OID personally but this way you can try both and then buy the FK-425 next time.

I should have mentioned and would be remiss if I didn't that the Griots polisher does have more power then the PC or Megs polisher. For me I just didn't like the vibration... Not fun... especially after using my Flex 3401 which is soooo smooth. Also my Griots broke down a couple hours into my first session. Of course I should be thankfull. I would have never gotten my Flex :) Again remember that the Griots does have a lifetime warranty to back up any worries about failure. A lot of people love the Griots. Maybe the vibration mine had was a defect.

Well I'm a noob too and this is my first summer with a PC so I'll just tell you what I did. I just finished doing my whole several year old car with PC, some lake country pads, and Menzerna IP and micro polish with fantastic results. No more swirls or water spots, though I left a few of the deeper scratches.
I just finished my third coat of Klasse SG and I'm going to top that with Wolfgang deep gloss sealant tomorrow, like I did last year (but without the polishing).

My only advice as a fellow noob would be (besides these products), to go slow, "measure twice, cut once" as they say, and have fun. :xyxthumbs:
