what about when you spray APC or rubber cleaner on the tires to clean them? There's no way you can keep that stuff completely off the wheel. One could say clean the tires with soap and water, but that's not effective in deep cleaning the tire. As long as you rinse the tire cleaner off quickly, should it not be a problem? I talking bout un-coated wheels. What would you do in this situation?

wheel wax and ONR.

I restored my wheels recently and painted them silver then added 3 layers of lacquer. colites 845 ontop of that. i just spray ONR, maybe 5 squirts and watch all of the brake dust just drip off. i wipe it down with a mf towel, thats for wheels, tires, and door jams only. if its really dirty then ex detail brush and hose pipe. otherwise its just a riseless wash. wax on the wheels makes cleaning so much easier.

i have a similar question about wheel waxes/sealants. every time you clean your tires your stripping whatever sealant was on there. even if it's only where the tire cleaner overspray or drips hit, it's removing anything on there. i wet the rims pretty good but i think it still gets through.

Chemical guys makes some Wheel and Rim cleaners that are PH neutral. Sticky gel and wheel cleaner and Diablo wheel cleaner. If they are truly PH nuetral, they will be perfectly fine on your waxed wheels. I have yet to use them, but have heard very good results from the Diablo wheel cleaner. The citrus based sticky wheel cleaner seems like a great value and I'll be trying it out shortly (Look for a review).

I don't think Griots rubber cleaner could possibly cause you any troubles. I've used it and it seems very safe.

Cool! I assume it adjusts to the size of the rim?

AG carries something like that: Wheel Shield (http://www.autogeek.net/wheelshield.html). I think they were on BOGO a while back.

I am often presented with just this challenge, I DONT want my Iforged uncoated wheels scared do to an unsafe product. You do have to tread lightly as some products, like certain versions of Simple Green, are nice APC's but will leave markings on uncoated wheels.

I had a Wheel Shield back when I had a SAAB with sport rims. The Wheel Shield needs a major update. The largest wheel it covers is 17" Both my rides now are 18". If they sell one for 18" I will buy one.

I use Diablo wheel gel let it sit for about 5 minutes then i get a bucket with a small tire brush and 1 gallon of water add some APC to it and use the brush to clean the tires then clean wheels and rinse.
