Is lanolin in a leather conditioner good or bad? Pinnacle has it, but Griots says it should be avoided. I've used a sample of the Pinnacle. I like the light gloss and it was easy to use, along with a nice smell. I haven't used the Griots.

Welcome to the debate on leather care for protected leather.

The marketing FUD is all about what the other guy has in their product that is bad. We know lanolin is akin to a wax so it would act as a barrier which is one important function of a leather care product (protect against contaminants like sweat, etc).

I think if lanolin was so bad there would be a lot of messed up leather around but it is not being reported. If I have used products with lanolin with no ill effects (seats did not dissolve after 3 years).

I recommend Optimum Protection Plus or 303 Aerospace for coated leather since they work great and do so much more too! Just my $.02 FWIW!
