New to the forums, Im an all around automotive enthusiast and I LOVE a clean car!

What brings me here is a few questions about using the PC and Lake Country pads. I have been browsing the forums for a couple weeks and decided to finally sign up. Ill post my questions in the appropriate section.....

I daily drive a 97 Honda Civic 4-door 5-speed with 191K miles, the paint is in need of serious attention. I plan on addressing that once I have a decent routine and product/pad combo figured out for the PC. I have used it 3 times so far, still figuring out all the tricks. My other car is 1998 SVT Ford Contour, I spend most of my free time cleaning, wrenching, or behind the wheel. Heres a pic of my SVT, 160K miles orginal paint except on the front bumper. Ill get some non-cell phone pics up soon

Also this the most in-depth article on using a DA polisher on the Internet I've ever written... the original was written in 2004

Tips and Techniques for using the PC 7424XP Dual Action Polisher to remove Below Surface Defects (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/expert-tips/20021-tips-techniques-using-porter-cable-7424xp.html)

Key points,

Don't tackle to big an area at one time
Don't move the polisher too fast when doing correction work
Use firm pressure when doing correction work
Use the 5.0 to 6.0 speed setting for correction work
Hold the pad flat to the surface
Don't buff product to a dry buff
Overlap a little into the previous section when starting a new section
