Detailed: 2004 F-350

Hey guys. Haven't been here much....I've been working some late days this week. This one is owned by the owner of the motorhome and LS430 that I did last week. I did a full detail on this work truck about 3 months ago. He's in it all the time so it's hard to keep clean. Since he went out west to hunt this week, I grabbed it and gave a good detail.

Here's what it got....

NXT Car Wash and Meguiar's Clay Bar
(Washed with Wash ShMitt. Wheels done with Wheel ShMitt.)

XMT#1
(EDGE2K "Experimental" Green Cutting Pad at #5 PC setting)
After claying, there were not any severe swirls or scratches since it's last polishing. I just wanted a clean surface for the 845 to adhere to. Once again, I love the work time and remarkable cut for XMT's lightest polish. No dust and no fuss.

Collinite's No.845 Insulator Wax
(EDGE2K "Experimental" Blue Finishing Pad at #4 PC setting)
I wanted wanted this thing protected for this winter. The customer owns the local marina but builds houses in the winter here. I just put on a thin even layer. I let dry and haze over for about 1 hour while I cleaned the interior. I then removed by PC with my white EDGE2K finishing pad. Remarkable shine for such a durable wax! I'll keep everyone posted on the durability.

[Excessive Detail]

Looks great man, very nice turn around. Man that must have been some job, thats a lot of stuff to clean out. How did you manage to get away with xmt 1 and a green edge pad, the last time I tried that I marred the @#$$ out of my paint, what speed did you use and how much pressure? And were did you find the tire shine that cheap. Good review by the way.

Well, XMT#1 is the least abrasive while the green pad gives some cut. As the polish starts to clear, I lighten up my passes and speed up my movements. I start out and stay on #5. I start with about 15lbs. of pressure....just enough to bog the PC down some. Then I go to just letting the weight of the machine work for my faster passes.

I found the tire foam at the Dollar Store! My kids love that place. Now I do.

I didn't dilute it since it came in it's own bottle. It was soapy. I'm thinking it can be easily diluted down to 4:1. I love the smell too. It's about half way gone. I'm gonna fill it up with water tonight to use and review tomorrow.

4:1 is 4 parts water to 1 part chemical.
Most chemical spray bottles have the marking. The Megs bottles in my pic has 1:1, 4:1 and 10:1. You just fill with water to which line of dilution you want, and then fill with a chemical to the top. Pretty easy this way.

How durable is the tire foam? I've used Armor's All's Tire foam in the past, and although it was semi durable, I've had great luck with Armor all's gel. Have you ever tried the dressings from the detailing line from Megs? I want to try them, but I don't want to have to buy a gallon sized bottle. I'm trying to find the best bang for the buck when it comes to tire shine for my summer business.
