For wheels that don't require much agitation, mothers wheel brush is perfect. However, what's a good brush/tool(isn't tooo abrasive) to use for settled grime and brake dust that requires more agitation?

I use two natural bristle brushes (tampico?) for my wheels. One I got from Meguires many years ago with a wooden handle (and needs to be replaced) and the other has a long 8-10" bristle for the slotted spokes. I have not found a replacement for either. I also use a foam paint brush for the lug nut holes.

When I can't get wheels clean with car wash detergent or even when using a wheel cleaner and the brushes, I use clay and a polish. I have also used a bug and tar remover when I think it's tar.

I look forward to following this thread.

I use this on the wife's Jaguar. Clear coated wheels and notoriously nasty brake dust:
Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brush, auto detail brush, Wheel Brush, Tire Brush, Detailing Brush, Corvette brush, Mercedes brush, sport wheel brush, (http://www.autogeek.net/ezdebrfca.html)

I want a speed master, but I'm still using brushes similar to Mothers Brake Dust Brush (http://www.autogeek.net/mothers-brake-dust-brush.html) and Mothers Tire, Wheel & Well Brush Kit (http://www.autogeek.net/mothers-tire-wheel-well-brush-kit.html), not much you cant get with a hand full of brushes.

I've been using the Speed Master Brush too and it is perfect for cleaning the inside of rims between and behind the wheel spokes.

My Daytona brush has never let me down, you can always tailor the wheel cleaner from P21S to Poorboys depending on the job, but the brush remains the same.

Is the Daytona brush good enough for a car with years of neglect with the right product, such as wheel brightener?

I actually have a daytona brush for the wheel barrels, works great! I need something more coarse for the face of the wheel. Mothers brake dust brush looks interesting.
