had a lady at pep boys listening to me talk to a guy about car care products yesterday and she asked if i can get rid of the little scratches(swirls) on her car. i asked her to let me take a look to see how involved it was gonna be. so we walked out to her car and it was pretty swirled up. i gave her my quote for a complete 2 step and she about freaked at the price. i explained to her what had to be done and told i could just do a 1 step and it would get rid of about 70% of the swirls so she agreed to it. but she asked to only do above the body molding and dont do the window. so i did.

wash: SCG car wash
PC w/orange pad
M105 (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/\"http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-mirror-glaze-105-ultra-cut-compound.html\"LEARN)
and i had a car this same color a couple years ago and remembered i like how nice 1Z Einszett Glanz Wax looked so i pulled it out from back of the shelve.

Nice job!!! :dblthumb2:

Just a question, how well did you like the finish after using 105 + orange pad? I was wondering if you could do this for a 1-step polish, or do you always have to follow with 205 + white pad? Your results look great, BTW. Does it depend on the car?

thank you. on light color cars like this it is ok to use orange pad and 105 cause the swirls or harder to see. you can get away with a not so perfect finish on lighter colors cause they hide things better than dark colors. i was not happy with the finish cause i still seen swirls but she was happy and i guess that is what counts

Thanks. I see now...the lighter the car, the more "forgiving" the finish is. I'm sure she was very happy, even though you saw more swirls with your expert eye, she probably didn't, and she got what she paid for!! :)

i could have dropped down to a white pad and 105 then gray pad and 205 and it would have been better but like you said she got what she asked for. and yes the lighter the color the more "forgiving" it is. some of the hacks that sell full details for $150 love the light color cars cause they dont have to be perfect. me on the other hand hate doing light colors cause they dont shine and reflect that good and i am always unsatisfied when i am done. lmao
