I am wondering if you can put different brands of sealants of top of eachother? Like put a layer of EX-P down, then put on another layer of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant?

Or would it depend on what sealant it was?

theoretically yes. however, i suspect you might find some bonding issues with it, and if its like duragloss 105 having cleaning properties, it would just remove most of the previous sealant :)

Isn't the same basic principal consist of a glaze and then your sealant?

not so much as synthetics. Now a glaze toped with a carnuba is a different story. synthetics will tend to run into bonding issues with synthetic glazes with the fillers /oils they contain.

how important is a glaze then when using a sealant?

a glaze is not as important as prep work.

claying to remove surface contaminants and then polishing is 90% of it. after claying and polishing, going straight to a sealant is your best bet. if you want more deph and wetness, top with a carnuba.

Try it out. That's the only way to find out if it will work. Worse case scenario - one sealant will not bond to each other. On the other hand it should. Try different combos, and please post your results.

The reason I really asked is that I'm just not *that* impressed with EX-P. The slickness wears off after about a week and the beading is frankly crap. On the other hand, it does look good. Very good, actually.

I would like to try out another sealant but not mess with taking this one off since I already have about 2-3 layers on there.

what would the worse thing that would happen if the one sealant doesnt bond with the other?

Darren F-- IMO, worst case....you may get streaking, the finish might not look quite as good as it could, and it will not last long.

P1et---try some DG Aquawax over your EX-P. It's like using a QD (easy) and will bring back some slickness and beading.

I don't have anything else to compare to (other than a coat of Gold Class when I first got the car) since I just got into serious detailing, but I like the look I have with 845 over EX-P. Still beads like crazy after 3 weeks.

Sealants generally loose their slickness fairly quickly after the 1st week. I don't think using different sealants mixed will help. You best bet would be to use something like AW or 425 as a topper/qd'er+, or just top with a nuba and normal qd'er etc.

if you want an impressive sealant that doesnt fade away, check out some duragloss 105 then top with aquawax after every other wash.
