claying to remove sealant

is it necessary to clay before removing sealant, followed by polishing?

claying is a suggest step in detailing, it comes after washing and before polishing. I do know some that skip it if finish is silky smooth. Not sure that clay can remove ALL of a sealant, so I might suggest using either a paint cleanser or polish.
