Sorry if this was already asked, but I would like to know what the difference is between paint sealants and waxes. I originally thought that sealants were synthetic and waxes were natural, but I think that is wrong. I would also like to know what pros and cons there are to both and if there are any guidelines to follow to determine if a wax or sealant should be used. Thanks.

I wrote an article about this, here's the link,

How To Choose The Right Wax or Paint Sealant for your Detailing Project (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/hot-topics-frequently-asked-questions/23263-how-choose-right-wax-paint-sealant-your-detailing-project.html)

It is confusing but I try to break "Protection Products" into their prospective categories in multiple different ways...

Basically you have

Carnauba type waxes
Synthetic Sealants although some are paste in form
Hybrids - A blend of natural and synthetic protection ingredients

And just as important...

Finishing Waxes
Cleaner/Waxes
