O.C.Detailing (Lynchburg, VA.) 1995 Land Rover Discovery SEVERE Oxidation!

First and foremost, I'd like to personally thank Mike P. and Barry Theal for their input and advice on this vehicle! :D

This customer is a collector of trucks and SUVs it seems. ;) He has 6 trucks, 3 of which are Land or Range Rovers, a Mercedes SUV that looks a heck of a lot like a Jeep, a black Ford F250 Super Crew Dually and a BMW Z3 Roadster. lol

Anyway, this was the dullest of the bunch. The paint was almost pink when he first brought it to me over 2/3s of the vehicle. The passenger side had been repainted with a base-coat/clear coat so it wasn't oxidized, but SEVERALY scratched and swirled up.

I ended up using a plethora of different pads and products on it to try and clear everything up, but in the end, the best combo was 5.5" Surbuf pads with M105 to remove the oxidation (destroyed 6 5.5" surbuf pads on this vehicle. :( ), then followed up with M205 on white 6.5" CCS and 2 coats of Poorboy's World EX-P sealant for protection.

PROCESS:

- 2-bucket Method wash
- clayed with Griot's Garage Claybar around the wheel wells and lower sections.
- Compounded with Griot's Garage ROP and 5.5" Surbuf pads using M105.
- Polished out with 6.5" Lake Country CCS White pad and M205.
- Protected with 2 coats of Poorboy's World EX-P. 20 hour cure time between coats.
- Wheels cleaned with Meg's Wheel Brightener
- Tires scrubbed with Bleche-White then dressed with Meg's All-Season Dressing
- Plastics dressed with 303 Aerospace Protectant and a bit of Meg's ASD to help turn them black again for a while. The bumper end caps and the lower molding need to be painted, but he didn't want to pay for that work. He didn't want perfection, just for the vehicle to look better. ;)
