Hello AG,

I'm a new member and this is my first post. A lot of great thread on this board especailly the How to videos which are very informative.

I was wondering if some of the more experienced detailer can help me out. I have a 2009 Crystal Red Cadillac CTS which i purchased a few weeks ago. With this purchase i've decided its about time i stop paying someone to do what I can do myself and take more pride in it than anyone else would since its my car.

I have purhcased all my polish, QD, Interior cleaner , tires , ect... All from Zaino. I'm not looking for any advice on this product as i know its not a product sold on this board but i thought it would be helpful to anyone helping me if they knew which products i was using or maybe it doesn't matter.

I am so frustrated with doing research on towels and the monre i look into it the more frustrated it gets. I understand a lot of it is personal preference but my main concern is not spending money on something that ends up being poor quality after a wash or unravels. I am reading a lot of mixed reviews on specific Cobra models which always makes me a little hesitant.

If you guys can tell me which towels you would suggest for the following tasks:

* Removing/ buffing out polish

* Applying quick detail sprays ( not sure if a different towel is needed)

* Drying vehicle - I have purchased a leaf blower to do majoirty of the drying but still need something to finish it off

* Best applicator for polish - I would prefer a 100% cotton applicator but not sure if they have any here at AG. Let me know what you suggust.

I will be placing my order tomorrow and will do my first complete detail with clay bar and the works this Thursday! Very exicted.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Ali,

Since this is your first post to our forum, welcome to Autogeek Online! :welcome:

Anytime you have a towel with a nap the potential exists for a fiber to fray or unravel, so if you want to avoid this as best as you can then stick with microfiber polishing cloths that have weave instead of a nap, like our Cobra Indigo Microfiber Towels (http://www.autogeek.net/coinmipoclsc.html). In a lot of my how-to articles and videos you'll see me using these because they work well for just about anything.

As you get into detailing your own car you're going to end up with good towels and tatty towels, so read through this article as it might help you to categorize and use your towels.

The 4 minimum categories of wiping cloths (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/tricks-tips-techniques/21944-4-minimum-categories-wiping-cloths.html)

I don't think we offer an 100% cotton applicator pads but we do offer foam and microfiber applicator pads, you can find them here...

Thanks for the response, i really appreciate you taking the time to write that out.

I guess my only problem now is that that specific towel you mentioned i beleive is on back order and i desperately needed to place my order today to receive it in a few days ( i live in orlando so we are close :) ).

Any other one that you really like for removing/buffing polishes such as zaino that i've pruchased as well as a towel for QD or paint seleants.

Thanks again !!

The Zaino products all wipe off easy so any quality microfiber polishing towel is going to work well.

Different types of towels work differently, for a final wipe I like something very plush like our

Cobra Supreme 530 Microfiber Towel (http://www.autogeek.net/supreme-buff-microfiber-towel.html)

And we just brought in an order of these edged white towels temporarily but I used them quite a bit on paint restoration on the 1973 Continental and really like them.

Behemoth II - 1973 Lincoln Continental (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/25270-behemoth-ii-1973-lincoln-continental.html)

Note light color towels will stain easy so don't any light color towel to stay pristine with use, just wash and dry and use again regardless of any remaining stains, it's never slowed me down...
