I am considering purchasing Griot's car wash for my new 2010 but it is so damn expensive.
What is a good inexpensive car wash/shampoo that doesn't remove the wax?

Anything good that I can get over the counter like Mequire's or something I can find in Walmart or an auto parts store?

Costco sells gallons of Meguiars Gold Class shampoo. Not positive on the price, but I believe it is under $20. You could easily get 60 washes out of a gallon.

Any soap will remove wax if you mix it strong enough. The key is to use the recommended dilution rates on the label.

Meguiar's Gold Class is a high quality wash, nice suds, very good lubricity and it does what it's supposed to without stripping when mixed correctly. Although you may get recommendations all over the spectrum I doubt you'll hear anyone tell you GC is crap. Around 8 bucks or so for a 1/2 gallon at most places I see it. Some Wal Marts are rumored to have discontinued Gold Class in favor of Meg's new Wash n Wax product which I think is a bit pricier. I've seen GC at almost every auto parts store as well as K Mart etc.

Grab some DG901 or OPT car wash. These two are very high quality shampoos that are very economical, have great lubricity, suds(if your suds kind of guy) and cleaning power. Use both at 1/2 oz or less per gallon. They are pretty much in the same price point as Megs Gold class if you shop around right.

Another vote for DG 901. You can buy it by the gallon or even 5 gallons like I did. The higher the quantity, the more value.

Meguiar's Shampoo Plus (http://www.autogeek.net/mg11101.html) is very cost effective. It's very concentrated, so a little goes a long way. Great suds, great lubricity, won't strip your wax. And only $17 for a gallon.

OTC, Gold Class or Meg's Wash & Wax. I can't speak for DuraGloss because I haven't used it, but there are a lot of people who love it! Mail-order, Meg's Shampoo+ is freaking awesome for the price, but I'm really starting to love both my Wolfgang Auto Bathe and Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo.

I like the turtle wax ice wash soap. Not to expensive, good suds and lubricity and is readily available. I like it if I am bucket washing.

:iagree:

I use it exclusively since I bought a gallon of it last year. Still have about half of it left...

Poorboys, Duragloss, Optimum and Griots offer nice soaps. Remember are alot more concentrated than store soaps and might not look so "big" in those mass market bottles.
