I've done some research and they all suggest to tape
the rubber trims and perhaps the emblems.

However, does anyone here have any pictures on what and how to tape?
It's much easier and clearer with pictures.

thanks guys:xyxthumbs:

Here are some pictures of a vehicle taped up. I spent around 2 hours taping this vehicle up. It was well worth the time since there was not much to clean up when I was finished.

the tape at the bottom of the doors....is that to protect an edge of a side skirt? or is there a trim piece there?

thanks for the helpful pics!

The tape was used there to protect the plastic trim that ran along the bottom of each door. You can see it better in the picture below.

I noticed you didn't tape over the Door/Hood/Trunk/Gas Filler Gaps... any reason why ?

With the severity of the car wash scratches it would have left a definate line where the tape was. Also, I never really tape off the body gaps. During the final wash I will get any compounding dust with a MF and QD if need be. It's usually cleaned up when drying door jams ect.

Here is a link to the detail so you can see more of what I am refering to.
