Most Durable Protection

Folks
I was always interested in keeping my cars clean and protected but this interest rose to the level of an obsession when I found Autogeek and this forum. By and by...I ordered tons of stuff and learned how to properly wash my car, keep the swirls at bay and enjoyed achieving a good shine on my vehicles. Over the years I've come to the realization that there's no point obsessing over the level of shine I achieve. The elements take over and dust pretty much covers the car in a day or two if not sooner.

That leaves me with the other purpose of detailing my vehicles - protection against the elements. My interest has dwindled down (rather readjusted) to making sure my vehicles are protected as well as they can be. After reading through a ton of reviews I ordered Collinite 476 (a kind of a sealant - from what I gather). This is supposed to provide the most durable protection...

The questions I hope this forum can help me with are (assuming I clay once a year and wax every 4 to 5 months. In between, I wash with Poorboys Super Slick & Wax Car Shampoo and extend protection with DG Aquawax)

1 - Is 476 just by itself enough?
2 - Would it be better if I went with a base of pure sealant topped by 476? If I top a sealant with 476 - will the 476 bond or will it not be able to do so and wash off?
3 - If #2 is the way to go - what would you folks recommend as the most durable sealant that would work as the base below 476?
4- Assuming I apply a sealant and then wait for it to cure. What steps do I follow before topping the paint with 476? A wash or ONR or PB Spray and Wipe?

I wonder if anyone has used 601 with other sealants. It supposedly will work with many sealants.

How about the Klasse Twins followed up with a light coat of Collinite 476 !!!!

You can ask for no better protection.

I've tried collinite 915, excellent protection!! I'm now trying Duragloss 601/105. So far so good! :buffing:

Just as an FYI -

I wrote to Duragloss asking about using 111 with 105 and they recommended starting with the 105 and waiting 4 hours to cure before applying the 111.

I think you will be fine with 476, you could top it with a carnauba wax for lil extra look

The plan you have, IMO is a good one... It will last the amount of time you wish and will look pretty good. After your wash, top with Aquawax and you will get lasting protection. If you want it to last longer... Look better... Then you need to change a little. The suggestions with Klasse are good ones. Let that cure for a good 12 hours before you top it. If you want a deeper, wetter look then top Collinite with a pure wax. There are many to choose from, like Maxwax, Souveran, Dodo Juice depending on how much you want to spend :D

I've never been a fan of topping with a different brand product. It's like mixing and matching, IMO. You can top with 2 coats of the same product, but no need for anything more than that. 1 coat of 476s is plenty good enough by itself. :xyxthumbs:
