MEGUIAR'S® LAUNCHES ITS REVOLUTIONARY SOLO™ SYSTEM TO THE AUTO BODY INDUSTRY

Irvine, CA (October 2006) – Meguiar’s, Inc, the world leader in car appearance care, today unveiled its revolutionary Solo™ System. The Solo System is designed specifically for body shop professionals to address a variety of common problems in the auto body industry today. The Solo System is designed to eliminate confusion in product choice, eliminate cross-contamination of compounds and polishes, and provide swirl-free final finish results.

Revolving around a single, one-liquid compound and polish product, this user-friendly liquid is paired with Meguiar’s latest technology in wool pads, foam pads and a backing plate - all specifically designed to enhance the performance of the Solo System liquid. The combination of liquid and associated tools will ease application, save time, and continuously provide revolutionary, swirl-free finish results.

I know AG will be carrying it (I assume). It releases on 10/31. Looks like the chemical works with a certain pad to get certain results. Looks like a new backplate too. Interesting looking pads as well.

Personally, I'm a little disappointed. After all that noise on MOL about this product when they didn't launch it on time, I expected it to be something more interesting.

I totally agree. Im glad to see them working on their backplates though.
I thought it was gonna be something really huge.

where the new pads developed in conjunction to be used with there new product.I was wondering if the two would need to be used together in order to acheive the desired results..

I don't like the idea of having one product for cutting and polishing. We attempted to use a new product at work that was similar. It lasted about 2 cars... but it turned "gummy" I't rather have a compound, then a polish, then a final polish. But thats just how I roll.

This was just posted by Meg's top guy.....

More details on 10/31 and this is where we need to stress that this is a fresh paint system, that is, it is formulated and intended to be used on fresh paint in a body shop environment.

It is not formulated or intended for use on cured paint, or OEM paint, i.e. the paint most detailers are working on. We understand that many of you are going to be curious to try this new system out in your detailing business, but anyone trying this system out has to do so with the complete understanding that this system is for freshly sprayed paint.

A lot of people on these detailing discussion forums are sometimes confused with their information mostly posted by other forum members operating under bad information that Meguiar's is a line of Consumer car washes, paint cleaners, polishes and waxes, but the truth is that our history is as a manufacture of products for the Professional Industry, that is Auto Manufactures and the Collision Industry, i.e. the industries that are spraying fresh/new paint onto cars. Meguiar's didn't enter into the enthusiast market until 1973, that 50+ years after we entered into the Professional Industry.

So while this new system may be a surprise to some people that are not aware of our company's history, for those who know our roots, or our heritage, they will see this new line as an evolution of our existing product line in the industry that Meguiar's has always been a leader in.

That last post from Meguiar's is interesting. I wonder why they bothered with the big product build up on MOL if it's intended for fresh paint use only. My guess is 99% of the people that post there are detailers of some sort.

I totally agree. Most are. I'm so let down. I thought it was gonna be a new system for everyone.
