Since Global Warming has reached Western NY State with temperatures in the 80's this weekend, here's the token plan for the Corvette Spring Clean-up, since it's sat in the garage most of the last 4 months (except for the occasionally warm/dry/sunny day in January and now March->April).

The car was clean and waxed when it went into the garage in November, so it's basically "dusty" with a very slight amount of road grime.

The plan - What Do You think?? :buffing:

> Wash- Optimum Car Wash, Gilmore Foam Master plus two buckets, Grit Guards and Lake Red Sponge & MF mitt (or, I could just use ONR....but what the heck, it's 80F!! :)

> Dry w/AG Guzzler Towels & Optimum Instant Detailer

> Wheel Wells w/ Optimum Power Clean/ diluted; 32oz. sprayer
> Wheels with DP Wheel Cleaner; sprayed on + Speedway wheel brush and Corvette sponge lug brush
> Wheels coated with DP Wheel Glaze
> Tires coated with Optimum Opti-bond or Optimum Tire Shine, depending on my mood! Opti-Bond applied right out of the bottle with a tire sponge or shot from an HVLP spray gun

> Exterior- Final coat of Optimum Spray Wax (given the underlying protection) with AG MF Gray 530 and Gold MF towels

> Interior - Clean hard surfaces with DP Interior Cleaner, then application of Optimum Leather Interior product on dash, doors and leather surfaces. Use 303 where necessary. Vacuum carpets and dust as required.....no carpet cleaning needed.

> Glass - Stoner's Invisible Glass plus AG MF glass towels. Polycarbonate roof - DP Plex-All

> Under the Hood - Optimum APC diluted, various brushes, including Speedway flexible brush, along with 303 Protectant, Opti-Bond, etc. for plastic and rubber products

No correction needed in this go round. Will keep the Opti-Seal, Poli-Seal, et. al. in the bag.

Sound like a plan for the Millennium Yellow "Vette??

Thx.

Thanks fellow NY-ers...............

I'll tell you this. Up in this area today, I think we were the warmest in the country. That's hard to imagine for around here, but it dries things out and at least gives us a head start on spring detailing. I think we hit 88F, unofficially. When I looked at the weather/temps around the nation later this afternoon, we were warmer than LA, Miami, Tampa, NY, Philadelphia, Wash., DC, St. Louis, et. al. Gotta love it.

Now.....on to the Corvette cleaning plan and my stockpile of Optimum products!!

Frankly, if I just washed the dust away, the LSP from last year will probably shine through without any help! :D

Just took mine Z06 out of mothballs yesterday! I worked on the interior for an hour in the back yard.

Yellow is such a hot color on Corvettes.

I've never seen one with a License Plate cut-out on the Front. We don't require Front Plates here.

To Bobby from Bob:

Millennium Yellow is THE color!!!

Speaking of Z06's.............my dealer offered a new, 2009 Z06 to me (Velocity Yellow w/chrome wheels) for a low price.....like $69,900 for an $82K car.....probably more there if I negotiated. The problem is that it "starts" at $70K. How about a Velocity Yellow Grand Sport for $55K. Pretty close to Z06 handling w/o the extra horses. And $15K less. That's my next step!

Anyway, thanks for the post!

PS - Don't you hate that front license plate on the 'vette?? I've got one too.......ugh......

I've got a front plate too.........dislike it. But on the other hand, have been stopped twice/ticketed once when I didn't have a front plate on previous 'vettes! On the other hand, it seems I am in the minority in the state......most people with 'vettes leave them off in this area. So, who knows............

I should get special dispensation!! :D

Hey, Denali Dean............how's the weather up there? We were the hottest place in the country yesterday......unofficially, it was 88F here!! Cooled of to 65F today. Wow, I'll take it!!

It's not too bad, Weather-wise.

Edmonton, Alberta - 7 Day Forecast - Environment Canada (http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/ab-50_metric_e.html)

It dips below freezing at night, but recovers nicely during the day.

I wish it was warmer, but for April, I'll take it !

50'sF.............not bad. That's probably what it is supposed to be here during the latter part of the week. On the other hand, I'll take the 88F!! Spectacular!
