Water sheeting

Inspired by my request to see the sheeting method in 02blackouts thread http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/24072-hd-vid-review-menzerna-power-lock-sealant.html, I decided to make a video or two myself.

This is after washing with CG Wash and Clear in preparation for waxing. Water sheets off pretty slow IMO.

After that, the car got an IPA wipedown to ensure a clean surface. Proof that LSP-free paint beads about half way through.

If it's decent out tomorrow, I'll post a third video of sheeting with the coat of Auto Glym HD I applied yesterday. I would have first applied Klasse twins or WG DGPS 3.0 but I will be stripping the paint for a light polishing in the next week or so, no need. Hopefully there will be a noticeable difference in how fast the water sheets off the car in the coming video. :dblthumb2:

So you actually applied it by hand? I used an applicator pad with no problems. It sheets water very nicely. I wonder how it will react with a layer of Menz Power Lock underneath?

LOL no, but I have wanted to try. I started with the included applicator but didn't make it far before switching to the Flex. It's just so much faster and easier to get that thin even coat. I applied way too much wax to the 6.5" blue LC pad and it got pretty saturated. The pic is my hand after rinsing and squeezing the applicator and pad in hot water before going into the Snappy clean bucket. I misted it with water to enhance the beading effect for the pic, when I saw my hand under running water I went straight for the camera. :D

Well as I'm getting ready to shoot the next sheeting video, I realized I can't find my camera! :eek: Ends up I left it in the schools theater I was working at last night. They found it, on the way to get it :bolt::bolt:

+1 about machine application. I feel that I get a consistent, even application with the PC in less time.

I have 6.5" and 4" flat red pads for sealants. I waste less sealant with the 4" pad and it is easier to use by hand to get the last sections where the PC can't (under the mirrors, along trim edges, inside the door handles, inside the door jambs, under the roof racks, etc.).

If I bought 5.5" initially, that may have been all I needed!

I do the same thing, using the pad by hand to get in the tight areas. :dblthumb2:
