This is a 2010 Hyundai Genesis with (I think) 15k miles on it. I'm assuming it sits under a sprinkler often, because the whole car had bad water etching all over it, and some light oxidation. Swirling was pretty average, but pretty deep in some areas. The front passenger side was repainted recently and had some very deep swirls and sanding tracers, which the Cyan pad wasn't touching. For these, I switched to a Surbuf R pad with M105, and it cut way faster than the Cyan, although it did not leave as nice of a finish. I also used the Surbuf pads on some of the deeper etching and swirls on the car.

The paint on this car was VERY hard, similar to a C5/C6 Corvette. M105 on a Cyan pad took care of most defects and actually left a pretty nice finish. M205 with a gray pad was icing on the cake, and Fuzion made the paint look like a black pool of water.

Claying:

As you can see, clay didn't really touch the water etching.

So hard to believe that is a Hyundai!! Nice job on that paint, I can't believe that its a 2010 in that condition... I did hear Matt talking dirty to that paint... seems it was a bit hard to work with. But nice finish, looks completely different then when it came in.

I agree with Meghan. Hyundai sure made a leap in style this year. I found myself drooling a little at the Hyundai commercials during the super bowl. Never thought I'd see that day.

Nice job. :dblthumb2:

yep.. they have put out crappy cars early in their career, but what auto manufacturer hasn't and hopefully learned from it? times have changed, and the impression of the "old" Hyundai should be thrown out the window. they continue to move up and are getting better and better (ranked 4th in inital quality below the more expensive luxury brands), especially all that they offer at their price points. they have a luxury sedan (Hyundai Equus) that will compete with the lexus LS and BMW 7 series that should hit the market in the next year or two, we'll see...
