Trying to decide on a good Soap to purchase...

So, I have been using Meguiar's Gold Class from Wally world forever. I want to try and find something a little more powerful, but not striping powerful. I live in South MS so winters are not to harse (this one has been tho). Summer time is the worse with the heat, dust/sand, and it rains a lot. I have narrowed it down to these:

Meguiar’s Shampoo Plus, 1 Gallon (http://www.autogeek.net/mg11101.html)
Meguiars NXT Generation Car Wash is a lubricant rich foaming car shampoo from Meguiars NXT Generation car care line. (http://www.autogeek.net/mg12664.html)
Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds Concentrated Car Wash: A Car wash that competes with the best, at a price that can't be beat! (http://www.autogeek.net/pbss32.html)

If there are any others you all think are very good for cleaning, let me know.


So, what should I use for the best lubrication when washing?

Well, out of those 4, I have Shampoo Plus and NXT car wash. I find that the NXT is good if you have a really dirty, as it does an excellent job of getting lots of dirt off. However, I absolutely love Shampoo Plus. It smells great, has lots of lubricity, cleans well, suds well, doesn't strip wax - I don't think there's anything about it I don't like. I'm placing another big order myself before too long, and I'm going to be getting two of these 4 washes:

Meguiar's Hyper Wash
Meguiar's #62 Carwash
P21S Bodywork Conditioning Shampoo
Optimum Car Wash

Anyway, I think Shampoo Plus is great. I'm just trying some other stuff as well. I like options (can you tell? ;)). So, yeah, that's all I have to say. Cheers!Im the MAN

I use Optimums and love it. Plenty of suds,lub, cleaning power with out striping wax.

Cant go wrong with Megs shampoo plus. Where do you detail in south MS. Im from Bay St. Louis (in starkville right now)?

After looking at the Optimum, that seems like a good choice. Does 1oz of it really provide enough suds? If so, thats 32 weeks of washes. I mainly just want something that is going to be really lubricated so I down cause any scratchs or swirls.

Bawiy1904, I don't detail as a job or anything. All personal gain here. However, I am in Wiggins. About 30 miles north of Gulfport up Hwy 49.

Optimum No-Rinse is good from what I hear. Buy it in the 64oz and you have quick detail, clay lube, and a car wash.

I still don't see anything wrong with Meg's Gold Class Zat.

the suds in optimum are so abundant and tight that a mound of suds will sit in the grass hours after you've poured the bucket out....seriously and it smells like blueberry muffins even half a block away.

Out of the 4 choices - Poorboys, but I like the DP Auto Bath Shampoo.

Remember - suds aren't really what is important in a car wash soap, it's the amount of lubrication you have. You want the slickest thing to wipe over the surface of your vehicle that will pull dirt with it.

Just be sure to check the recommended dilution. PB is 1/2 oz per gallon and Optimum is 1 oz per gallon. PB also mentions 2 oz / 5 gallons for family washing.

If I had to chose one it would be optimum if only for the smell and slightly gelish than some washes, but I like PB, Mothers, and DG. The only one that was special was 1z Perls. It is low suds and really needs to be dried completely.

wow, that is extremely good work. I wish I could find one of these for every product on AG.. This makes me want to make a spread sheet for some stuff cause this is very helpful


How about this idea.... What if people made spread sheets for all the different chemical catagories (aka. polishes, waxes) that include prices for all sizes and price per once, or suggested use? Then AG could use that gathered info for each products page. They could also repay the author with some type of special treatment( samples, free product, t-shirt). what do yall think about that?
