Hey guyz, just wanted to get some more opinions before I buy, I'm planning on ordering some HIDs soon, I found some for $200, I just trying to figure out what color. I'm thinking either 8000 or 10000. The 10000 have a purple hint to it, which I'm leaning more to, but the 8000 are blue, which would look tight on my white car, still purple would be very exotic looking. I actually found a site that had 30,000, it was like pure bright purple, mainly for show. Tell me what you think.

10000K HIDs are a waste of money. They are useless in the rain and are just bling bling. Anything above 6000 is actually pretty pointless for actual usable light. I won't buy anything higher than 5200 personally for that reason. Seriously though, ask anybody who knows anything about HIDs and they'll tell you that 10000 are a total waste of money and you will regret it.

Send this guy an email (http://www.jinsu-power.com/). I bought my HIDs from him a few years ago. They were McCulloch ballasts and never gave me any problems whatsoever. He sells the color kits that you will want to get too. $200 is a good deal for HIDs, but not if they are 10000K lights. Get quality if you are going to spend money on that kind of thing.

I've had 4300K (stock), 6000K (white with hint of blue) then 8000K (more blue than white) on my car. I changed it back to 6000K after driving for few months with 8000K. Higher you go, less the output :)
6000K, imo, would go well with your car

Ask the seller if the kit is DOT approved and legal for sale in your state. All aftermarket kit were and believed to still be illegal.

go with 6000... if you get the 8000 or 10000 make sure u get fog lights because u wont be seeing much. get on the hidplanet forum and ask them about what u should do. when i had my integra i bought the 8000k without knowing the visibility of it. i installed it and it was better than stock but not much. so i saved up some more money and talked to a few guys on their forum and they refered the 6000k kit. so i purchased it and used as my brights... the road looked like the sun was out. good luck with the install. and enjoy whatever u get.
it is worth it.

E.D- its sound like your buying a kit, imho dont buy a kit, that junk....
if you really want HID's go retrofit(Period) that the only way unless in japan or some models have option to upgrade and you can buy the complete housing and hids....
most bmw, lexus, porsch have 4300 which is listed as pure white the most usable light output but you may notice on some of these vehicle diff color that because of the cut off... Go to this link HIDplanet.com and they have a forum you can research and see what im talking about, i always recommend this to anyone who doesnt know better(no dis) again this aint cheap put if you wanna play you gotta pay...

I heard about that too. I think if he goes with 6k, it should not be a problem, where 8k, or 10k would really show off, and might be a reason to pull you over. Once again, get 6k(if you are planning to use it for driving), it has brighter output. Just my $0.02

As far as i am aware it illegal across the US to use/install HID's unless it came from the factory...period

That's why I recommended 6k, they are barely noticable.

Our LX470 has HIDS, bright as hell. Neighbor down the street has a C6 Z and his sure as heck isn't purple at night lol. One of the reason for the law is b/c to many people were installing crap aftermarket kits that were not only causing fires and electrical burnout, but more importantly weren't aimed correctly. If your off by just a millimeter it throws the whole spectrum of light off from where it should be. Heck I get flashed once in awhile by people in the Lexus truck and those are correctly aimed factory lights.

McCollough or however it's spelled is one of the few reputable ones, I know people with my truck (Explorer/Mountaineer) used them and came out great. If you get normal 4300-6000 ones you should be fine regardless of the law as they will look factory spec as long as aimed correctly. But if you go to higher ones that are blue/purple believe me cops will pick you out.

Thanks guyz for all the insight, I'm glad I asked before I went purchased anything. I'll take your advice and stay under the 8,000 range. I post some pics when I put them in.
