Hello guys,

I was browsing my car make forum and it seems as though a couple members have used Castrol Super Clean in their engine bays and than just pressure washed it off after finishing...

I asked if they used any covering over the electrics (espeically on our cars since their biggest problem of ownership is electrical gremlins). They said nope, straight drenched in Super Clean and than pressure washed right off...

The end results of the members are just fantastically clean... But I just... I dunno, the electrical connections and water just really do not sound good whatsoever...

Even if other's don't cover and protect electrical components doesn't mean you don't have to, start a thread on your hangout forum and ask which components should be covered and protected if a person what's to take the extra step to protect these components and see if you get any specific recommendations.

I would cover the Alternator and Air Filter. I also use cleaners made for engine cleaning like Griot Garage Engine Cleaner. Cleaning and engine bay when really dirty will take some elbow grease to get it clean. I would not recommend using strong degreasers like super clean in the engine bay

It looks like there were some engine cover's that were added on also. In the previous picture they were silver and now they are black.

In the back firewall area on the driver's side there's some kind of liquid jug and in one picture it has a blue cap and in the other picture it has a black cap.

Could just be a great engine detail and upgrading to some newer components?

I think as part of the ENGINE BAY DETAIL he changed what appears to be $516 worth of parts at dealer sell price ! Are we being douped??

I think it may be so. May be 2 different cars entirely.

In my Si, I cover the MAF sensor, alternator, fusebox, and ECU with a plastic shopping bag. It may be overkill, but it gives me peace of mind. I think the biggest factor in engine detailing is using a cleaner that will not damage rubber hoses, plastic, and is paint safe. DP cleanse all and P21s total auto wash are two products that I recommend. In addition, I use a stream of water without the nozzle. I finish by dressing components with 303.

I knew ya guys would eventually noticed lol. Well as he posted, and he;s one of the bigger guys in the Corrado crowd. He's selling this Corrado.

He sprayed the whole bay down in Super Clean and doused it away with water.

After that he changed the following:

Few more vacuum hoses to replace and re-wrap some harnesses with new hockey tape and its up for sale. I've done this simply to make it easier to sell.
New timing chains, lifters, cams, main seal, all motor mounts, tie rods, control arms with bushings, new rad, water pump, thermostat and housing, coolant hoses, ignition wires, new starter, new magnaflow cat hmmmm don't know what else. Last thing i want to do is sell a piece of crap to someone.
Hope it sells quick its like new minus body work and paint.
Getting another rado to replace this one.

So its the same car. These cars break more than any car you can list (Mine is sitting in the garage waiting for Timing chains, timing chain guides, headgasket, clutch, flywheel, cams, lifters, motor mounts, and than installing new springs. This is about the 10th time i've had it in brokestatus mode in the 2 years of ownership). It's a cult car with a cult following. So a lot has been replaced in the engine bay to make it a bit more reliable.

Also, this engine is a diesel, so think of how dirty they get.
