Being new to detailing, I'm trying to learn how to keep my car perfect one area at a time. Looking over her, I was curious what I should do for her pipes. They aren't in awful shape, and I've read a couple of routines out there under show n' shine, but curious for more input. What is your favorite pipe routine (process and products).

Thanks for any help

I have a stainless tip on mine. I like to use this Nevr-Dull Wadding Polish (http://www.autogeek.net/eo104.html) or 0000 steel wool and a metal polish.

I clean mine with my wheel cleaner first and a sponge. I then use metal polish and quad 0 steel wool (found in paint sections in bags on the cheap). Nothing works as nice IMO and helps so quickly.

0000 steel wool or Never Dull should do it.

+1. My dad and I have been using this for yrs. and you can't seem to beat the price. Mothers Billet Metal Polish cleans and shines billet, forged, and finely cast aluminum, brass and all polishable metals. Professional detailers, (http://www.autogeek.net/motbilmetpol.html)

To keep my pipe looking clean on my Tacoma I put in a Flowmaster 40 Series and dumped into before the axle no worrying about pipes staying clean anymore. :p

Not at all! I have a Gaylord's tonneau cover, bet mat, welding tools, baseball gear, hockey gear, and my hockey referee gear. It sounds awesome @ WOT (wide open throttle) w/ my K&N intake she purrs. Plus she is a 6-spd! :dblthumb2:

Same here. DP Wheel Cleaner, Steel Wool #0000 with metal polish, and DP Wheel Glaze

I was using the mini power ball with Meguiar’s All Metal Polysh on my Borla tips. I just tried OOOO steal wool with Meguiar’s All Metal Polysh and it worked better so, I'll be sticking with that.

I pulled my exhaust system off the car (a Borla cat back). Took it to a friends shop and TIG welded a couple of pin holes with stainless rod (cosmetic pin holes, not corrosion). Then used his vertical sanding belt and sanded the entire system. First with 60 grit, then 180, and finally with 320. Then started polishing on a 24" buffing wheel. Used four different buffing compounds and it ended up the way it should have come from the manufacturer. I was just about too dirty to even get back in my car to drive home.
