A few months ago we were able to schedule a small “Puerto Rico Tour” for December. We had various clients that expressed interest in our services, and after they put down deposits, things were set to go.

We left out of Detroit Metro Airport when the temperature was a chilly 27 degrees, stopped in Fort Lauderdale, then hopped aboard a flight for San Juan, PR where the temperature was 84 and humid. BIG difference.

First thing was first: pick up the rental. We got a pretty good deal and got a 2009 Dodge Caravan with a mere 10 miles on it. As a bonus, I helped to design/develop a few things on this vehicle pre-production a couple of years back, so I knew it inside and out.

Next stop: Pick up our gear / supplies. In route to pick up items we had already shipped out, we made a couple of stops. As beautiful as Puerto Rico is, we just weren’t ready to handle all the sun and heat. The few months leading to Winter in Detroit left Marc and I quite pale. We stopped and picked up a couple of hats and had them custom embroidered. In addition to the caps, Marc got a pair of sunglasses to work in as I already had some polarized shades.

Marc was loving the glasses, but felt naked wearing them without protection. Wolfgang Fuzion came to his rescue. He applied it by hand to insure full coverage.

Wax setting:

Wax buffed off with a plush microfiber cloth, they now looked and felt proper.

We got the Dodge loaded up with all of our goodies and headed to the next necessity: the car wash. You can’t be a Professional Detailer with a hit-up vehicle. We had to get things right.

APC’ed the wheels / wheel wells / lowers, washed with Gold Class

Danase Paint Sealant applied by hand to the body (our spray sealants/quick detailers hadn’t come in yet :( ), wheel wells treated with Meguiar’s All-Season Dressing, Meguiar’s Foaming Tire Shine on the tires

Hello...! Congratulations for expanding your bussinnes down here to P.R. :welcome:

That’s right if you don’t protect from the sun down here you can get a pretty good sun tan.

I’m from Puerto Rico and love the Auto Geek online store and forum lots of info. If you need some help in a future just let me know. Great job..!:dblthumb2:

Anything to get out of Michigan in January. You need to make it an annual event.

Mike, thanks again! I remember talking to you back in March 09 about my early plans and you encouraging me on. Thanks for the honest advice, and for setting the example of "hard work".

Roman2e, we were down for a few clients, and will probably be going down twice a year, or more if we can "justify" it with our significant others ;) So I'll keep you informed of our plans.

Gary, you bet! We just got 6 inches of snow last night, and tomorrow we will work while it is 0 to 10 outside (we will be inside a heated garage). I still have a sun burn from 3 days ago! Even you guys in tropical-sunny-paradise South FL got some cold. Let us know and we'll take you down for some warmer weather too ;)
